Deer Valley Resort has announced an ambitious expansion project, claiming the title of the world's largest ski resort expansion to date. This announcement marks a significant milestone for the resort, renowned for its commitment to exceptional skiing experiences and customer service.
"This month Deer Valley unveils the largest area expansion ever attempted by any resort in the world," said a representative from the resort. The initiative, dubbed "Expanded Excellence," has seen the skiable terrain double within just one summer. This extensive development adds almost 100 new ski runs and introduces 10 new chairlifts, altering the landscape of the 2025/2026 season.
Once the project reaches completion, expected in a few years, Deer Valley will leap from being the 15th largest to the 4th largest ski resort in the United States. The resort will increase its skiable area from approximately 800 hectares to an impressive 2,317 hectares, expanding the number of ski runs from 100 to 238 and the number of lifts from 25 to 37. This includes a state-of-the-art 10-person gondola equipped with heated seats.
"Never before has a ski resort expanded so fast, so ambitiously, in such a short space of time," emphasized the same representative. The previous expansion at Deer Valley, 15 years ago, included just one new lift and 80 hectares of additional terrain. In comparison, the current expansion is more than ten times larger.
The expansion is set to create an enticing opportunity for skiers. The variety of runs introduced ranges from groomed trails ideal for beginners to challenging tree shots for advanced skiers, ensuring that skiers of all levels can enjoy the new terrain.
"Judging from my sneak peek of the few new runs open last season, the unprecedented expansion will clearly be worth the effort," remarked a thrilled skier after experiencing the newly unveiled terrain. "Skiing the newest terrain on offer in North America feels like pure freedom."
Accessibility plays a key role in Deer Valley's appeal. Located just a 35-minute drive from Salt Lake City International Airport, the resort remains one of North America's most easily reachable skiing destinations. For international visitors, particularly those holding an Ikon Pass, Deer Valley offers an enticing incentive with seven full days of skiing included.
The new East Village serves as a critical base for the expanded terrain and is the first ski base to be developed in the United States in over a decade. This area will include the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley, a new luxury hotel that complements the existing three bases: Snow Park, Silver Lake, and Empire Pass. "I wander into its inaugural property, the Grand Hyatt Deer Valley, to be wowed by a dramatically enormous foyer and soaring windows taking full advantage of the surrounding alpine views," shared an excited journalist touring the new facilities.
With the addition of luxury accommodations and more skiable terrain, Deer Valley's commitment to providing an unrivaled skiing experience remains steadfast. This expansive project not only marks a new chapter in the resort's history but also raises the bar for premium ski experiences in North America and beyond.
As the 2025-2026 ski season approaches, skiers and snowboarders alike are eagerly awaiting the chance to explore Deer Valley’s new offerings. The resort's continued growth and innovation signal a bright future, enhancing its reputation as a cornerstone of luxury skiing in the United States.
